How to Set Up Multimatic 215 for the First Time:
- Install the correct voltage plug.
Install either the 120V or 240V plug, depending on your input power source. Choose the plug that fits the receptacle, line up the arrows, and insert the power cord into the multi-voltage plug. Tighten the collar and plug it into the wall. Test by powering up your machine using the power switch on the rear.
- Choose your welding process.
Locate the up and down arrows on the left side of the control panel. Use these to cycle through welding processes, indicated with the LED display above.
- Turn Auto-Set Elite features on or off.
When turned on, Miller Auto-Set Elite will automatically set your welding parameters. Toggle Auto-Set Elite using the on/off button at the top of the control panel. To override the displayed settings, use the dials on either side of the LCD display and the -/+ buttons above it. Should you prefer to weld with Auto-Set Elite off, you'll need to manually adjust your voltage and wire feed for MIG, or amps for TIG/stick. Correct parameter settings can be found on the chart inside the machine's door.
- Set up gas & polarity.
The LCD screen will prompt you to use the proper gas type & polarity settings for your process. The Multimatic 215 is designed for use with external gas cylinders (not required for flux core). To set up a gas supply, safely secure your cylinder, point the valve away from you and open it slightly to clear dirt & debris, install the regulator, and connect your hose to the regulator. Lastly, connect the hose to your machine & tighten with a wrench.
- Troubleshoot setup issues.
The Multimatic 215 uses easily understandable word prompts & symbols to flag common issues like loose or improperly installed cables. Fix any issues displayed before welding.
