Several years ago I went through comparison of Hobart 210 MVP and (old transformer) Millermatic 211. At that time I didn't find enough difference between them to justify additional cost and ended up buying the Hobart. When it got stolen a few weeks ago I started the research process all over again and ended up with same choice of 210 MVP or (new inverter) Millermatic 211. Even though the price difference is bigger now, the portability of the new 211 made it a pretty easy decision, and after using it a few days I think it is a much, much better machine. Very easy to set up and overall just seems to make laying a bead easy. NOTE: machine was shipped to me very promptly but my unit crapped out within the first 30 minutes of use, on a Su

I recently purchased a Millermatic 211 MIG to replace a competitors suite case welder. I selected the Miller 211 because it can run on both 110 and 220. Additionally it easily welds 3/8" metal. The auto set is very nice, just set on the thickness of the metal and select wire thickness. I am very happy with this welder an would purchase it again.

I have always had a Lincoln stick welder. That what all farm kids grew up with. Needed to weld some lighter gauge steel so went looking for wire welder. Looked at all the usual do it yourself stores and decided to go to welder supplier instead. After talking out all my concerns about the smaller 110 welder decided on this 220 volt instead. Got home watched videos about setup and read book . Next day started welding. OH MY GOD. Why did I wait till I was in my 50s to get one of these. Set thickness set type wire set auto speed. Bam weld away. I love it. Would recommend this to anyone that welds 4 or 5 times a year. Awesome machine. Next is spool gun for aluminum.

I was surprised at the duty cycle. I welded a filet weld at max power on 3/16 steel for about 7 feet before the overheat light came on and cut the welder off for safety. This welder can weld up to 3/8 which is all I would ever need. Unless you have a welding business and are constantly welding this is the right welder for you. For $900 after the rebate and a free welding helmet I don't think you will find a higher quality product our there for the price. Also there is a lot to be said about general portability of this unit. You can lift it with one arm . I own a tig syncrowave 210, 875 plasma, miller mig 252, and this unit. Miller hasn't let me down yet. Loyal customer here.

Q - What is the Millermatic 211's maximum welding thickness? A - The Millermatic 211 can weld up to 3/8" steel or aluminum in a single pass when plugged into a 240V power supply. With a 120V power supply, Millermatic 211 can weld up to 3/16" steel or 1/8" aluminum.

Q - If I cut the plug off of the Millermatic 211 and change it will the machine still work? A - The Millermatic 211 comes with MVP style plugs for running the machine off of 110v or 230v. If done correctly, the plug can be cut off and a regular one can be put on.

Q - Can the Millermatic 211 be used to TIG weld? A - The Millermatic 211 is for MIG welding only.

How to Set Up Millermatic 211 for the First Time:

Review the safety tips in the Owner's Manual.

Review the instructions for important safety information before using your Millermatic 211 welding machine. Ensure you are wearing OSHA-approved personal protective equipment during setup, maintenance and welding. A helmet with at least a shade 10 lens is recommended.
Connect the control cable.
Pull the work lead out of the access hole on the front of the machine. Locate the control cable connection on the inside of the door, under the drive. Route the control cable through the access hole and connect the cable to the four-pin connection, twisting the collar to secure it in place.
Connect the MIG gun.
Insert the MIG gun into the drive casting, making sure it is completely seated into the drive assembly. Tighten the threaded T-knob. For aluminum welding, instructions are provided for installing the optional Spoolmate 100 spool gun.
Connect the work clamp.
Route the work lead through the work clamp, connect, and tighten securely. Ensure the work cable is connected to the negative output terminal for solid wire with shielding gas.
Set up shielding gas.
Choose the appropriate gas (75/25 mix, 100% CO2, tri-mix for stainless steel, 100% argon for aluminum). Connect the gas hose to the regulator and machine, purge the gas cylinder, and secure connections.
Install drive roll and wire.
Select the correct drive roll groove based on wire size. Place the wire spool on the shaft, thread the wire through the inlet guide and MIG gun liner, and adjust tension settings.
Complete initial setup.
Plug in and power on the machine, avoiding extension cords if possible. Feed the wire through the gun, select the appropriate contact tip, and adjust the drive roll tension.
Choose Auto-Set or manual mode.
Use the parameter chart inside the door for initial settings. Utilize the Auto-Set feature on Millermatic 141 and 190 for mild steel and 75/25 gas, and the Advanced Auto-Set on Millermatic 211 for various materials and gases.
(Optional) Install spool gun for aluminum welding.
Use 100% argon gas and follow similar installation steps as the MIG gun. The spool gun holds the wire spool and automatically detects when the trigger is pulled, with no need for a spool gun switch.
