Great TIG welder for beginners, but with a design flaw
This welder is great for us—how it's used and the group that uses it. In a university engineering lab, our primary users are students who start with zero TIG experience, and this welder offers great basic features—HF start, pulse option, AC, hot start (SMAW)—without all the other bells and whistles that can overwhelm a first-timer. Controls are simple, starts are easy and reliable, and even our one student who is a certified welder really likes it. For the bad (the only reason I won't give it 5 stars): it blew its mother board after less than two years. Fortunately it was still under warranty, but my dealer told me that he's had a lot of these 300s come back with the same problem. So, I expect the same in another two years or so. When that happens, we may fix it, may go on to something else.
